STUDY IRISH IN IRELAND FOR THE SUMMER SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Each year the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Memorial University of Newfoundland, selects up to two Canadian Students who are eligible to travel to Ireland to attend a summer school in Ireland. Details of the school are available online at www.icuf.ie . These scholarships are co-awarded. Memorial awards the student $500 for cost of travel to the study location and the Ireland-Canada University Foundation (ICUF) covers the cost of tuition, board and shared accommodation for the duration of the course. The awarding of the scholarship will be based on a recommendation from the Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Candidates with a record of strong academic achievement should prepare and provide a curriculum vitae that outlines the following information:

  • Name & Contact Information
  • Overview of Education and Training (include grades obtained in courses dealing with Irish content matter)
  • Scholastic Achievements (may include scholarships, awards, and bursaries)
  • Non-Scholastic Achievements (may include athletic awards, leadership, volunteer awards)
  • Work and Volunteer Experience
  • Travel Experience
  • Other areas as deemed appropriate by the applicant

Additionally, please provide a statement (no more than 500 words) outlining why you would like to study the Irish language in Ireland. All Memorial University students are eligible to apply; however preference will be given to students pursuing a program of study in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences who have familiarity with the Irish language.
