Research Statement

My proposed research will be looking at the methods and practices used within museums to respectfully curate and care for material heritage belonging to Indigenous Peoples. Museums across the world have begun to decenter Western traditions in order to decolonize their frameworks, and the primary goal of this project is to record these changes. As a case study, I will observe the process of change guided by Inuit from Hopedale, Nunatsiavut as they contextualize heritage held within two German museums and offer Nunatsiavummiut-centered approaches to curation.
