Research Statement
The aim of my research is to determine the nature and extent of civilian defences on Fox Island (Champney’s West, Newfoundland) during the period of Queen Anne’s War (1702-1713). I will use archival records and artifact collections recovered from previous archaeological investigations on the island to identify new areas for further testing and excavation. I hope to confirm indications from the archival record that Fox Island continued to be occupied for domestic purposes in the 18th century.
