Research Statement
The objective of my research is to 3D scan and study Dorset harpoon head assemblages from throughout the Dorset cultural range (Nunavut, Quebec, Labrador, Newfoundland, Greenland) in order glean information on patterns of morphological and stylistic variability at the intra-feature, intra-site, inter-site and inter-regional levels. I wish to investigate: 1) the possibility of individual agents; 2) the conformity of intra-site customs or knowledge; and, 3) the flow of customary technical knowledge and ideas at the regional and cross-regional levels, within the Dorset geographical range.
