Research Statement

My current research aims to investigate the evolution of cultural ideas pertaining to the building of infrastructure in Ferryland, and in comparable sites in England and Wales. Specifically, I will be investigating the cobblestone street in Ferryland, including the notions of infrastructure that arrived with the early settlers of the colony and how these ideas changed with distance and the resources available. I will undertake comparative anlyses with contemporaneous examples of street infrastructure, and examine the associated material culture recovered from Ferryland to help provide a timeline for the construction and use of the street, and how that compares to the entire settlement.
