Bachelor of Commerce (co-operative)

This five-year program is designed for students looking for work experience to complement the knowledge taught in the classroom by offering a co-operative component that alternates classroom study with periods of full-time employment.

During the program, students will complete three paid work terms. These work terms may be in industry, government, or other organizations and will give students an opportunity to apply classroom learning while developing professional networks and gaining valuable, practical experience for today’s business environment. With a 100 per cent placement rate for work term students, graduates gain a diverse array of skills and abilities that make them valuable and in-demand employees.

Students can focus their studies in one of the following concentrations:

  • Operational research

  • Small business and entrepreneurship

Admission Requirements

Students may apply for admission into the first year of the Bachelor of Commerce (Co-operative) program (Terms A/B) directly from high school by indicating this in the appropriate place on their Undergraduate Application for Admission/Readmission. Direct entry into the faculty from high school is subject to the applicant meeting the general admission requirements for Memorial University.

In certain circumstances current Memorial University students or students transferring from another post-secondary institution may apply for advanced standing in Terms 1, 2, 3 or 4. Further details on this can be found on the Faculty of Business Administration website.

Joint degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce (co-operative)

Offered in partnership with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, students concurrently complete the bachelor of commerce (co-operative) course requirements while focusing non-business electives in an area of specialization in accordance with a bachelor of arts degree.
