SUBJECT: Cancelled: World Oceans Day celebrations at Middle Cove Beach

DATE: June 7

Due to Tropical Storm Colin, Memorial University’s World Oceans Day event scheduled for Middle Cove Beach on Wednesday, June 8, has been cancelled.

Instead, representatives from Memorial’s departments of Ocean Sciences, Sociology and Geology and the Environmental Science program, as well as partner organizations such as the Ocean Learning Partnership and Department of Fisheries and Oceans, will bring the celebrations to Grade 5 students at Roncalli and Vanier elementary schools.

Activities will include a touch tank, presentations on microplastics and invasive species and interactions with Memorial researchers, staff and students and partner representatives.
