Note to editors:
Media are advised that interviews and photo opportunities will be available on Friday, May 30 at 9 a.m. when CMA Newfoundland and Labrador and Memorial University’s Faculty of Business Administration announce a significant new partnership.
The agreement, worth $350,000, will support a host of student initiatives and activities including scholarships, ACE Memorial, the CMA student society and the Business Day Conference.
In addition to the direct support for students, CMA Newfoundland and Labrador is sponsoring the CMA Professor of Accounting, a professorship that will support CMA related activities on campus. Dr. Jeffrey Pittman will be the inaugural CMA Professor of Accounting.
CMA Newfoundland and Labrador Executive Director Mark Bradbury will be presenting Dr. Gary Gorman, dean of the Faculty of Business with a large-display cheque at the official signing ceremony in the RBC Atrium in the Faculty of Business Administration.
Earlier this year, CMA Canada awarded the Faculty of Business Bachelor
of Commerce (co-op) accounting program CMA accreditation, making it easier for Memorial business students to pursue their CMA designation after graduation. Memorial University is the first and only university in Atlantic Canada to receive CMA accreditation.
