The Department of Biology at Memorial University offers students the opportunity to pursue undergraduate degrees in Biology with optional concentrations of study in the following areas: Applied Ecology and Conservation, Aquatic Life, Biological Tools and Techniques, Biology for Health Professions, Comparative Biology, Evolutionary Ecology, and Molecular, Microbial and Cell Biology.
Both Honours and Cooperative Education options available in each of the aforementioned areas of study.
Our Major program fosters a deeper understanding of the multifaceted nature of biology as students study a specialized suite of prescribed core courses while having the freedom to take a broad variety of elective courses. Our Honours program builds upon this understanding and provides students with the opportunity to conduct independent research under the guidance of a faculty advisor while our cooperative program allows students to enhance their academic study with work experience obtained through three full-time, paid work term placements.
The Minor in Biology is a flexible program that allows students pursuing degrees in other academic disciplines to complete select core and elective courses within the Biology program to supplement their major.
