Memorial University won the privilege of hosting the 2011 International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM) world conference. Co-organizers Dr. Beverley Diamond and Dr. Kati Szego, as well as administrative representatives from Memorial University and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, formally invited the ICTM membership to St. John's at the 2009 world conference in Durban, South Africa.
