Research and Publications
MMaP is engaged in a wide range of ethnomusicological research and publication projects. Our “Back on Track” Audio Publication Series makes one-of-a-kind collections of archival and field recordings available to the public, with CDs and websites that showcase the diverse musics from Newfoundland and Labrador and around the world.
Cultures of Sound Network
MMaP is a founding partner of the Cultures of Sound Network, an international collaboration between MMaP, the Sound Studies Initiative at the University of Alberta, the Canadian Museum of History, Cape Breton University, and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage through its Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. The Network’s goal is to develop new research and public engagement projects in the area of music, sound and culture.
