SUBJECT: Folklore students stage pop-up at St. John’s Farmers' Market
DATE: Sept. 25
A pop-up exhibit will be held at the St. John’s Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The exhibit, titled Behind the Vendors: Building Communities, is the result of five Memorial University folklore students' three-week field school at the market.
The St. John’s Farmers’ Market was chosen as a location for the field school because of its cultural diversity and how it embodies a different St. John’s than the one commonly viewed in tourism ads. It also reflects how much can be learned about a city through its food.
Behind the Vendors: Building Communities, will take place in the community room at the market, located at 245 Freshwater Rd. The exhibit is open to the public and is free of charge.
