SUBJECT: Fifty years of exercise training science: What's old? What's new? What's true?
DATE: Oct. 24
There have been many fads, facts and inaccuracies regarding fitness training over the decades, generating many questions.
Memorial University’s School of Human Kinetics and Recreation (HKR) has contributed to answering many of these.
Join HKR’s Dr. David Behm for a free public lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. as he shares the latest findings related to advanced resistance training techniques for children, as well as unstable, high-speed velocity-specific and elastic band resistance training and stretching.
Dr. Behm has more than 20 years of research experience in exercise training science. He is a University Research Professor with approximately 200 publications. He has received career research awards from the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology, the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Memorial University.
This lecture is part of the HKR speaker series sponsored by the Joyce (Noel) O’Doherty Integrated Health and Wellness Fund in Human Kinetics and Recreation. It will take place in the Physical Education building in room PE-2001.
Parking is available in lot 1A; light refreshments will be available following the event. For more information, please contact Sandy Woolfrey-Fahey.
For anyone unable to attend, a video of the session will be posted on the HKR YouTube channel within a week of the event.
