SUBJECT: Demystifying e-marketing: converting the web into dollars

DATE: March 9

An upcoming seminar on e-marketing will change the way local businesses think about their websites. Demystifying E-Marketing is a day-long event featuring e-marketing experts who offer practical advice on how to make organizational websites more effective.
The event, which takes place March 19 at Hotel Gander and March 20 at the Pepsi Centre in Corner Brook, is meant for small and medium-sized businesses and non-profit organizations that are interested in becoming more competitive through increasing their website effectiveness. Participants will learn practical techniques to immediately improve their existing websites and discover new ways of online marketing. Demystifying E-marketing is led by Susan Sweeney and Lyle Wetsch, internationally-renowned experts in the field of e-business and e-marketing.
The Gander and Corner Brook sessions build on the success of e-marketing seminars held in St. John’s and Salmonier last fall. Previous participants found the seminars to be engaging and informative. In the words of one past participant, “I thought the seminar would be too technical for me, but I understood the content and learned the importance of having an effective website. I also came away with ideas for putting what I learned into practice.”
This initiative is presented by Memorial University’s Gardiner Centre and Harris Centre, as well as the Kittiwake Economic Development Corporation (Gander), the Long Range Regional Economic Development Board (Corner Brook) and the Humber Economic Development Board (Corner Brook). It is sponsored by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the Department of Innovation Trade and Rural Development and Steele Communications.
