Weapons on Campus
Weapons, prop weapons, and ammunition are prohibited on Memorial University property unless prior written authorization has been granted by Protective Services or its designate.
The Weapons, Prop Weapons and Ammunition Procedure establishes the requirements for the possession, transport, storage, display, use, and authorization of weapons, prop weapons, and ammunition on Memorial University property.

Authorization
Authorization may be granted for legitimate University activities, including:
- Research and academic activities
- Theatrical, film, or artistic productions
- Ceremonial events
- Educational or training activities
- Other University-approved purposes
Requests should be submitted in advance to allow sufficient time for review and approval by Protective Services.
Responsibilities
Individuals bringing weapons, prop weapons, or ammunition onto University property are responsible for:
- Obtaining authorization before bringing items onto campus.
- Complying with all conditions of approval.
- Safely transporting, storing, and handling authorized items.
- Following all applicable legislation and University requirements.
