MUN Best Buddies

MUN Best Buddies group creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our University Chapter builds an inclusive campus community by matching students in friendly, supportive pairs and hosting social events that encourage connection, belonging, and leadership.

Typical Volunteer Duties:

• Participate in a one-to-one friendship match (hang out, chat, participate in activities on or near campus)
• Attend chapter events (socials and group activities/socials)
• Communicate reliably with your match and the chapter team (confirm meetups, respond to messages)
• Optional: help plan events, recruit members, promote on campus/social media, or join our exec team

Commitment: Most volunteers can expect
• Weekly contact with their buddy (e.g., text/calls/social media messages).
• Hangout/meetup twice per month (either in person or virtually depending on the matches preferences)
• ~2-3 chapter event per semester
• A semester-long commitment is ideal so matches can build real consistency.
