Nomination forms for Volunteer Day 2023 are officially open! The applicatications are due on March 10th, 2023 by 4:00pm. Applications must be completed and sent to svb@mun.ca

Student Volunteer of the Year

This award is presented to a student at Memorial who has made exceptional contributions to the community of Memorial, locally, provincially, or globally, through their volunteer efforts during the past year. For the purpose of this award, a student may be pursuing either Undergraduate or Graduate programs.

Note: Individuals who fall into multiple categories (i.e. both a student and staff member) may only be considered for one award.

David Kirkland Student Leadership Award

The David Kirkland Student Leadership Award is presented to a student who has made exceptional contributions to the Memorial community through their leadership and volunteer efforts during the past year. Qualities of this student should include integrity, dedication, humility, creativity, open-mindedness, and dependability. To be eligible, students must possess a minimum average of 65%. For the purpose of this award, a student may be pursuing either Undergraduate or Graduate programs.

Volunteer Student Group of the Year

This award is presented to a ratified Club, Society or Resource Centre active at Memorial which has made exceptional contributions to campus and community life through their volunteer efforts during the past year. Please be aware that this award is based on the collective volunteer efforts of the members of the student group and not the individual students within the organization. We invite you to nominate individual members for the Student Volunteer of the Year Award or the David Kirkland Student Leadership Award.

Volunteer Residence of the Year

This award is presented to a Residence at Memorial who has made exceptional contributions to campus and community life through their volunteer efforts during the past year. Please be aware that this award is based on the collective volunteer efforts of the members of the student group and not the individual students within the organization. We invite you to nominate individual members for the Student Volunteer of the Year Award or the David Kirkland Student Leadership Award.

Volunteer Staff Member of the Year

This award is presented to a staff member at Memorial who has made exceptional contributions to the community of Memorial, locally, provincially, or globally, through their volunteer efforts during the past year. For the purpose of this award, a staff member is defined as a non-student employee of Memorial who cannot be categorized under MUNFA or LUMUN.

Faculty Volunteer of the Year

This award is presented to a faculty member at Memorial who has made exceptional contributions to the community of Memorial, locally, provincially, or globally, through their volunteer efforts during the past year. For the purpose of this award, a faculty member is defined as an individual that can be categorized under MUNFA or LUMUN.

Glenn Roy Blundon Award

This award for excellence in disability accommodation is presented to an individual or group for promoting equality and accessibility for Memorial students with disabilities. A list of the previous winners, including faculty, staff, students, academic units, etc. is available here.
