All students entered in the draw were required to successfully complete the new Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention course prior to 5 p.m. on Friday, September 23rd, 2022. The draw was completed on Tuesday, September 27th at 11 a.m. by Bethany Jacobs, MUNSU Representative for the School of Social Work and Sexual Harassment Board member, at the Sexual Harassment Offices in the Sir Alexander Murray (Earth Sciences) Building. The push for early completion was to address the Red Zone where research tells us that over 50% of sexual assaults that will occur on university campuses each academic year will have occurred by November 1st.

The Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention course was rolled out this semester and is mandatory for all undergraduate and graduate students new to Memorial, as well as certificate and diploma students new to the Marine Institute. It is expected to be mandatory for all students by September 2023.
