From Oil to Energy Justice: A Community Conversation

How can we build an equitable energy transition in Newfoundland and Labrador?

The Department of Political Science encourages members of the Memorial community and general public to come learn more and contribute to new energy future.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s energy future is changing rapidly, with major risks and opportunities. How can our province join the global energy transition in a way that is fair to workers and communities dependent on the oil sector, delivers widespread socio-economic benefits, and contributes to climate safety?

This event features lightning talks presenting new research on these questions, then gathers insights from community members and experts to build an equitable energy transition in Newfoundland and Labrador. Throughout, we will be inspired by global frontrunners presented by students at Memorial University.

Opening remarks will be provided by Jessica McCormick, President of the NL Federation of Labour.
