2002: Polynomial Identities in Algebras

International Workshop
Polynomial Identities in Algebras
August 29 – September 3, 2002
Memorial University of Newfoundland
The program included about 10 - 15 one-hour lectures, about 10 half-hour talks and a number of shorter communications on various aspects of algebras with polynomial identities, with an emphasis on combinatorial methods in PI-theory. This workshop is a continuation of the series of conferences/workshops held in Palermo, Italy (1992), Trento, Italy (1997), Rehovot, Israel (2000), and Pantelleria, Italy (2001). The end of August – beginning of September is still summer in St. John’s. Sightseeing tours were held, including a tour of the Bird’s Sanctuary in Cape St. Mary’s.

The Organizing Committee of the workshop is comprised of Y. Bahturin (Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, and Moscow State University, Russia), A. Giambruno (University of Palermo, Italy), A. Regev (Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel), and M. Zaicev (Moscow State University, Russia).

The participants/speakers of this workshop included Yuri Bahturin, Adalbert Bovdi, Victor Bovdi, Murray Bremner, Alain D’Amour, Vesselin Drensky, Edward Formanek, Antonio Giambruno, Alexander Kemer, Mikhail Kotchetov, Plamen Koshlukov, Len Krop, Roberto La Scala, Viktor N. Latyshev, Sergei P. Mishchenko, Vincenzo Nardozza, Heydar Radjavi, Rolf Rees, Amitai Regev, Jeno Szigeti, Angela Valenti, and Mikhail Zaicev.
