Graded Algebras and Superalgebras (2008)

Graded Algebras and Superalgebras
August 29 - September 2, 2008
Memorial University of Newfoundland
The main aim of the workshop was to discuss recent achievements in the entitled areas. Graded rings and algebras naturally arise in many researches in Mathematics and Physics. In the case of superalgebras gradings are “built-in” into the very definition of these important mathematical objects. We will be interested in the structure and representation of graded algebras and superalgebras and, broadly speaking, in any problems involving such algebras.

The organizational work was done by the AAC Coordinator Dr Yuri Bahturin, Drs Mikhail Kochetov, Mike Parmenter, and Yiqiang Zhou, with the help of Ph D student Jason McGraw and USRA student Andrew Stewart. As usual, our thanks go to the administration and the staff of Memorial University of Newfoundland and its Department of Mathematics and Statistics, with special emphasis of the role of our administrative staff specialist, Ms Ros English.

The total number of participants was 25, from 10 different countries. The two-lecture series were delivered by prominent people in the area of Graded Algebras and Superalgebras: Georgia Benkart (University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA), Vesselin Drensky (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences), Dimitry Leites (University of Stockholm, Sweden) and Ivan Shestakov (University of Sao Paulo, Brazil). Additional talks, mostly 1-hour, but some 40-minutes, in total 13, were given by Eddy Campbell and Jianjun Chuai (Memorial University), Deanna Caveney (College of Charleston, USA), Cristina Draper (University of Malaga, Spain), Alberto Elduque (University of Zaragoza, Spain), Mikhail Kochetov (Memorial University), Plamen Koshlukov (University of Campinas, Brazil), Jason McGraw (Memorial University), Vincenzo Nardozza (University of Bari, Italy), Michael Natapov (Indiana University - Bloomington, USA), Erhard Neher (University of Ottawa), Oleg Smirnov (College of Charleston, USA), Marina Tvalavadze (University of Saskatchewan), and Yoji Yoshii (Akita National College of Technology, Japan).
