Academic Component
- Residents are provided with a half-day of protected time for self-directed learning weekly and on core Geriatric academic half-day per month (Geriatric Medicine Rounds).
 - Residents are expected to present:
- One topic at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital Internal Medicine Grand Rounds.
 - 1-2 topics at the Family Medicine Academic Half-day.
 - 1-2 Interesting Case Presentations at Geriatric Medicine Rounds.
 - Journal Club Presentation at Geriatric Medicine Rounds.
 - 1-2 topics at Comprhensive Geriatric Assessment Rounds (topic of choice, focused on components of the CGA).
 
 - Residents are expected to undertake a self-directed scholarly activity which may be a reearch project, critical appraisal, education or simulation module, etc., with mentorship available from clinical and research faculty. This will be presented at the final Geriatric Medicine Rounds of the year.
 - Attendance at one approved conference (e.g. Canadian Geriatric Society [CGS] meeting).
 - Clinical teaching (residents participate as learners and as teachers).
 - Community outreach presentation, Alzheimer's Society First Link Program.
 - Patient care teaching rounds (site based).
