What if I fail Chemistry 2400?

 

How can I complete my biochemistry degree on time if I fail Chemistry 2400?

First, go and ask to review your examination in Chemistry 2400. Discuss the advisability of applying for a re-read with your chemistry professor (a re-read will cost money).

In the event that you still have a failing grade in Chemistry 2400, here are some options:



(A) Take Chemistry 2400/2401 during Winter and Spring semesters

These courses may be offered at Memorial but you will need to check with the chemistry department to be sure.

Also courses are offered at other Universities for which you could get transfer credit for Chemistry 2400/2401. You will need to make sure that the courses are eligible for transfer credit by talking to our Chemistry Department. Yes, these will cost money and may interfere with your plans for summer employment. Which to do is a decision that you will have to make.

If you hope to complete an honours degree in Biochemistry, this might help you to finish on time.



(B) If you plan to complete a Biochemistry (Nutrition) major

Register for Chemistry 2400 in winter and this will act as prerequisite for Biochemistry courses helping you to finish on time.

  • $Chemistry 2100 is required in the program but can possibly be taken in a later semester.

  • **If you do not complete Chemistry 2301 in second year it must be done in the Fall of your third year or you will find it very difficult to finish in three more semesters.

  • You will not be able to take Biochemistry 4101, 4201, 4210 unless you have taken Biochemistry 3105 in 3rd year.
