Sexual Violence Awareness Week

September 12 – 18, 2021 is Sexual Violence Awareness Week in Newfoundland and Labrador.

To honour this incredibly important week, the Sexual Harassment Office is hosting events meant to help raise awareness and bring attention to the issues of sexual harassment, sexual assault and reiterate the importance of consent and consent culture. The office will be displaying a number of consent-inspired t-shirts on campus throughout the week, created by Memorial community members, reiterating the importance of consent, consent culture and a shared responsibility among all University members to eliminate gender-based violence, including sexual harassment and sexual assault.

The office will also be hosting a virtual WebEx education session on Friday Sept 17, 2021 at 2:30 pm regarding the Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault policy and procedure and role of the office - to register for the session, email ahcurnew@mun.ca to reserve your spot.

The Sexual Harassment Office is also hosting a virtual presentation by the Multicultural Women’s Organization of Newfoundland and Labrador titled "Transcultural Awareness for the Prevention of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Among Newcomers."
