Invitation to Participate in a Research Study on Access to Diabetes Care in Atlantic Canada

Researchers in the Faculty of Nursing at Memorial University areconducting a study exploring access to diabetes care and support across Atlantic Canada – The Intersection of Places, Perspectives, and Policies (3P Diabetes Access).
We are inviting participation from three key groups whose insights are vital to this work:
Adults (at least 18 years old) who live with either Type 1, Type 2, or Gestational (pregnancy) diabetes, have access to email, are able to read, speak, and understand English, and are willing to discuss access to diabetes care and support. (Recruitment (PWD)
Health care providers who provide care to individuals living with diabetes (e.g., endocrinologists, internists, family physicians, nurse practitioners, certified diabetes educators, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, etc.) and are willing to share their perspectives regarding access to diabetes care and support. Recruitment (HCP)
Policymakers – individuals involved with government and non-government agencies with policies that impact access to diabetes care and support – who are willing to share their perspectives regarding policies that influence access to diabetes care and support. Recruitment (Policymakers)
Through this study, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences of adults living with diabetes, healthcare providers, and policymakers in the context of health-related policies in Atlantic Canada, specifically regarding access to diabetes care/support.
Interviews will take place either virtually (e.g., via Webex) or by telephone and will last approximately 60 minutes.
If you are interested in participating or learning more, please contact:
Dr. Renee Crossman (crossman@mun.ca | 709-864-4459 or 709-597-0994)
or Olivia Riley, Research Assistant (oriley@mun.ca).
We invite you to download the recruitment posters and help share this opportunity within your networks.
Transition to Nursing Practice and Mental Well-Being Study
Researchers at Memorial University are conducting a quantitative study examining the transition to practice experiences and mental well-being of registered nurses in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) after the COVID-19 pandemic was declared over.
If you are a registered nurse who transitioned to nursing practice on or after May 4, 2023 and would like to participate or learn more information about this study, please email Dr. Robin D. Burry. Your participation would consist of the completion of a single survey (~25 minutes) to be conducted online at a time of your convenience.
The survey will ask questions about your experience transitioning to practice after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic and your mental health and well-being.
This important project will inform the development of supportive resources for registered nurses transitioning to practice in Newfoundland and Labrador after the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you have questions regarding your rights as a research participant, please contact the Health Research Ethics Authority at (709) 864-8871 or info@hrea.ca.
