"I'm a nurse first." MUNFON faculty member talks to CBC radio about her work to improve the lives of African women suffering with obstetric fistula

"...the essence of nursing for me is reaching out to do good." MUN Nursing's Dr. Kimberly Jarvis speaks with CBC Radio's Krissy Holmes about her work to assist African women suffering with obstetric fistula.

For many women living in parks of Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, obstetric fistula is a stigmatizing condition with long term medical, psychological and social impacts.

Kimberly's work focuses on how to assist women in Sub-Saharan Africa post-surgery to integrate back into their communities. It was the focus of her PhD research, and will be the focus of her upcoming trip to Ghana in the winter of 2020.
