Care of Underserved Populations

The Discipline of Family Medicine at Memorial University is pleased to introduce a twelve-month Enhanced Skills Program in Care of Underserved Populations (CUP). Care of Underserved Populations is similar to Global Health, in its inclusive meaning, but as our program spends a majority of time on domestic service (approximately 10 out of 12 months), we have selected Care of Underserved Populations as more intuitively inclusive language. The program is ideally suited for physicians interested in working with marginalized populations in resource-limited settings, whether domestic or international. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive a certificate awarded by Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Mission Statement

To educate family physicians to provide and lead innovation in evidence-informed, patient-centered care that addresses the social determinants of health, to advocate for health equity in their communities, and to build health care system capacity at home and abroad.
