What We Do

The office of the Vice-Provost, EDI-AR, provides leadership to Memorial University in advancing sustainable, structural, and systemic transformations across all campuses. This includes developing important relationships within the broader university community. Accordingly, our office strives to promote EDI-AR commitments in several ways.

Annual Premier Events

The Office of the Vice-Provost, EDI-AR has proudly hosted a variety of impactful events aimed at fostering inclusivity, celebrating diverse cultures, and promoting meaningful conversations on social justice. Many events are established and occur annually.

The International EDI-AR Conference

The Inaugural International EDI-AR Conference brings together students, staff, researchers, faculty, community leaders and industry professionals in the fields of equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism from around the globe.

Community Engagement Programs

The Office of the Vice-Provost, EDI-AR, frequently hosts community engagement programs to provide spaces for learning, connection, and advocacy.

EDI-AR Strategic Plan

Currently in development, the EDI-AR Strategic Plan will guide Memorial into becoming a leading EDI-AR institution in Canada.

Human Rights Policy

Currently in development, Memorial's first Human Rights Policy will establish a clear and comprehensive framework for promoting and protecting human rights in the Memorial University community.

As part of the work of the portfolio of the Vice-Provost, EDI-AR, our office’s team members work with each other and with others in communities throughout and outside of Memorial University. This collaborative work includes participation on several committees and working groups.
