What is EDI-AR?

Equity

The principle of considering people's unique experiences and differing situations, and ensuring they have access to the resources and opportunities that are necessary for them to attain just outcomes. Equity aims to eliminate disparities and disproportions that are rooted in historical and contemporary injustices and discrimination.

Diversity

Includes ways in which people differ, and it encompasses the different characteristics that make one individual or group different from another. It may be expressed through factors such as race, culture, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, health status, region of birth, language, education, ability, place of residence, family status or socioeconomic status.

Inclusion

The practice of using proactive measures to create an environment where people feel welcomed, respected and valued, and to foster a sense of belonging and engagement. It involves transforming the environment by removing barriers so that groups and individuals have equitable access to opportunities and resources and can achieve their full potential.

Anti-Racism

The active process of identifying and eliminating racism by changing institutional systems, organizational structures, policies, practices and attitudes, so that power is redistributed and shared equitably.
