Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism
We acknowledge that the lands on which Memorial University’s campuses are situated are in the traditional territories of diverse Indigenous groups, and we acknowledge with respect the diverse histories and cultures of the Beothuk, Mi’kmaq, Innu, and Inuit of this province.
We acknowledge the labour theft extracted from people of African descent and used to build European wealth and economies globally and in the Canadian nation state—including Newfoundland and Labrador’s shipbuilding and cod fishery industries—through the violence of trans-Atlantic enslavement.

Memorial University welcomes the recently released Report of the Employment Equity Act Review Task Force. The offices of the vice-provost, equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism and human resources will work together over the coming months to learn and understand proposed changes to the Employment Equity Act (EEA) and the Federal Contractors Program (FCP).
An accessibility plan for Memorial University was finalized in December 2023.
Greetings and welcome back from the Office of the Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism.
The portfolio of the Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDI-AR) is an important reflection of Memorial University's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism across our campuses and in our communities.
This site informs Memorial University communities of our ongoing work, and shares relevant resources and information about EDI-AR at Memorial.
