Working with the President's Executive Council (PEC), the provost and vice-president (academic) is responsible for ensuring university planning and budgets align with the university’s acadcemic mission.

The provost consults and collaborates with a number of groups, including PEC, the Board of Regents, the vice-president (finance and administration), the Senate Planning and Budget Committee, and the Budget Office, regarding budgetary issues and decisions.
