7-Year Cycle Overview

AUP Stage	Timeline	Activities
Start	AUP Start	Information session with faculty, staff, and students of unit by Associate Vice-President (Academic) and AUP Coordinator
Self-Study Report	Up to 1 year later	Unit submits Self-Study Report to Dean of Record. Dean of Record forwards report to AUP Coordinator for distribution to the external panel for review.
Site Visit	4-6 weeks later	External panel makes two-day site visit to the unit and meets with stakeholders.
Panel Report	1 month later	External panel submits a Panel Report to the Dean of Record. The Dean of Record verifies factual accuracy of report. Following any necessary revisions, the report is sent to AUP Coordinator and the Unit Head for distribution to the unit.
Formal Response	1 month later	The unit prepares a Formal Response to the Panel Report and submits it to the Dean of Record. Dean of Record and Unit Head meet to discuss Self Study, Panel Report and Unit Response, particularly recommendations made.
Action Plan	2 months later	Unit formulates an Action Plan, including a timeline and assignment of responsibilities. The Dean of Record and the Unit Head meet to discuss and make any necessary amendments. The Dean of Record submits the Unit Response and Action Plan to the AUP Coordinator for forwarding to the Academic Unit Planning Committee (AUPC) for review
Summary	1 month later	Unit submits one- to two-page Summary report, based on Formal Response and Action Plan to AUPC Coordinator. AUPC reviews Summary for accuracy. Summary report is posted online to the VPA website.
One Year Update Report	1 year later	The Unit Head submits One Year Update Report to the Dean of Record on the implementation of the Action Plan. The Dean of Record forwards the report to the AUP Coordinator.
Three Year Update Report	2 years later	The Unit Head submits Three Year Update Report to the Dean of Record on the implementation of the Action Plan. The Dean of Record forwards the report to the AUP Coordinator.
