School of Nursing alumni stay connected
School of Nursing alumni from the Class of '78 came from the Maritimes and Ontario earlier this month to get together with classmates from Newfoundland and Labrador. The group of women had so much fun they are already talking about future reunions!

Class of '78 graduate and reunion organizer Donna Hutchens says the group really values the friendship they established over 35 years ago, when they began their studies in the Bachelor of Nursing program.

Since they graduated 35 years ago, they've gathered every few years for reunions, often meeting up in locations such as Pippy Park, where they would bring along spouses and young children.

These days all their children are grown, and some of the women have grandchildren.

They recently kicked off their 35th reunion with a luncheon in the School of Nursing, and a tour of the school with Dr. Alice Gaudine, dean pro tempore. The women were particularly interested in seeing the nursing lab, and a special piece of equipment they donated in memory of a deceased classmate.

The graduates of 1978 did not attend classes in the school's current location, but were located across campus in a temporary building near the Arts and Administration Building.

The group capped off their weekend together with dinner at a downtown restaurent, where they started talking about big plans for a 40th reunion!
