It was a surprise invitation from the University of Wyoming's Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing.
Earlier this month Dr. Julia Lukewich travelled to Laramie, Wyoming to give a keynote address about registered nurses in primary care during the school's 2023 Research and Scholarship Day.
Organizers sought her out after reading about some of her work.

"It was such a pleasant surprise," said Julia. "It also validated that our research is being read, informing the research of others, and that our issues are not unique. Many places share similar challenges with understanding nursing scope and optimizing nursing roles in primary care teams."

Julia met faculty, students and staff, many with similar research interests, and everyone made her feel welcome. Questions and discussion mainly related to the scope/ contributions of nurses vs. other providers, differences in training and scope of practice across states and comparatively across jurisdictions in Canada and the importance of practice context/attributes in optimizing role, etc.

She's hoping new collaborations will result!
