Speech Sciences and Language Acquisition Lab

The Speech Sciences and Language Acquisition Laboratory is a cutting-edge facility for research on articulatory, acoustic and phonological dimensions of language acquisition and related speech disorders. The Lab hosts a number of research projects currently underway at Memorial, including the Chisasibi Child Language Acquisition Study, on the acquisition of Cree as a first language, and the PhonBank initiative within CHILDES, an international project for the building and analysis of cross-linguistic corpora of child language phonological data. The Lab is also the official venue for several of M.A. and Ph.D. projects on first and second language acquisition as well as on speech articulation and acoustics
