Indigenous language research: 

Our department has has a sustained, 40+ year collaboration with Indigenous Communities in our province and beyond, with speakers Innu-aimun, Labrador Inuttut, East Cree, Cayuga, and Tłı̨chǫ Yatıı̀. This includes practical, community-directed projects such as translation, curriculum development, legal and medical dictionaries, documentation of critically endangered language varieties. We currently provide the only Indigenous language instruction at MUN.
