Aquatic Research Cluster (ARC)

The Aquatic Research Cluster (ARC) is located at the Ocean Sciences Centre (OSC) in Logy Bay. ARC provides research support, training and analyses to undergraduate and graduate students, university researchers, government agencies and private sector R&D companies. ARC services and instrumentation are grouped into two areas: Chemical Oceanography and Functional Genomics and Molecular Biology.

Chemical Oceanography

Specializes in the determination of organic compounds (lipids and amino acids) and elements (carbon and nitrogen) in samples from the aquatic environment.

Functional Genomics
and Molecular Biology

Specializes in the analysis of transcript expression levels in aquatic organisms utilizing real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR).
