Kahsu Ferede Hagosse is an MA student in the Department of Anthropology at Memorial University. Under the supervision of Dr. Daria Boltokova, his research explores the intersections of Indigenous knowledge systems, food sovereignty, and economic anthropology in Labrador. He is particularly interested in comparative ethnography between Northern Ethiopia and Arctic and Subarctic regions.

Originally from Ethiopia, Kahsu holds a BA in Social Anthropology from Addis Ababa University and an MBA from MicroLink IT & Business College. His previous research has focused on the intergenerational transmission of Indigenous medicinal plant knowledge and the relationship between cultural temporalities and global commodity flows which he coined as “Complementary Religious Economy”. He has also completed advanced graduate coursework at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and previously served as a lecturer in anthropology at Aksum University.

His broader research interests include decolonial approaches to development, community-engaged research, and the complex relationships between culture, economy, and environmental sustainability.
