Academic Programs
Anthropology explores how people and groups across the globe engage with the social, cultural, political, and economic processes that shape the contemporary world.
Anthropologists spend extended periods of time with the people they study in order to understand their practices and beliefs and how they are entangled with systems of power.
Anthropologists facilitate cross-cultural understanding and critical engagement with global problems.
The Department of Anthropology offers programs at the BA, MA and PhD levels. Students are introduced to diverse case studies and encouraged to question taken for granted assumptions about the world and their place in it. Through reading, writing, watching documentary films, participating in classroom discussions and debates, students are taught to think critically and come up with innovative approaches to contemporary problems.
