Search update - March 25, 2024

Throughout January and February, the search committee engaged in a consultation process to gather feedback from the university community and key stakeholders on the opportunities, challenges and priorities for the School of Music, as well as the profile for the next dean.

Search committee established

In accordance with the Procedures Governing the Appointment, Review, Promotion and Tenure of Academic Administrators, a search committee has been established for the role of dean of the School of Music.     

Elected:

  • Joe Argentino, associate professor, School of Music
  • Harris Berger, CRC in Ethnomusicology, and director of the Research Centre for the Study of Music, Media and Place, and professor of Music and Folklore, School of Music
  • Nancy Dahn, university research professor and a John Lewis Paton distinguished professor, School of Music
  • Rob Power, associate professor, School of Music

Appointed:

  • Patricia Dold, associate dean, curriculum and programs for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and associate professor
  • Peter Ride, dean, School of Fine Arts (Grenfell Campus)
  • McKenzie Broders, student representative, executive director of advocacy, MUNSU
  • Jennifer Lokash, provost and vice-president (academic) pro tempore, chair

 The search committee is being supported by Shauna Quinlan, senior consultant, senior leadership recruitment in Memorial's Department of Human Resources, and staff in the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic).
