Fundraising Volunteers Needed

Are you passionate about neurocognitive rehabilitation, brain-related research, and helping support non-profits so they can carry out their crucial work? In this role of the fundraising volunteer, you will assist the organization with vital fundraising initiatives since we receive no government or other funding. Currently, we depend solely on the kindness of the community to carry out our programming.

About Us: The Neuropsychiatric Patients' Association of NL (NPA) is a non-profit organization founded in January 2008 by Dr. Hugh Mirolo, Neuropsychiatrist, as an offshoot of the province’s only Neuropsychiatry Clinic. This unique association offers Newfoundland’s neuropsychiatric patients an opportunity to address service deficits in the healthcare system, particularly in the area of neurocognitive rehabilitation post-brain injury. Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 month commitment;
  • Able to provide ~3 hours a week on a weekly basis;
  • Able to adapt to a flexible volunteer schedule; Perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability;
  • Maintain the confidential information of the organization and of its users;
  • Attend any training relevant to your duties;
  • Act in a professional way whenever you represent NPA;
  • Raise any concerns at the earliest opportunity;
  • Good communication and listening skills, Ability to work well both independently and with others;
  • A background in finance and/or fundraising is not required but an asset;
  • Give us as much notice as possible should you be unable to attend or carry out your volunteer role with us anymore;
  • PHIA course, Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector check, Confidentiality agreement and 3 references will be required upon application submission.

Summary of tasks:

  • Assist with the creation and organizing of regular fundraising activities and events,
  • Continue working on current fundraising initiatives,
  • Manage and update the NPA’s Go Fund Me page and other pages for fundraising,
  • Assist with donor recruitment and management,
  • Explore online fundraising options such as Patreon, CharityVillage, etc.,
  • Come up with fundraising ideas in the province and nationwide, in person and remote,
  • Approaching individuals, schools, universities, shops and commercial organizations for sponsorship and donations.
  • Work closely with the finance team.

Work location: The work location will be primarily mobile/remote, however some in-person meetings with fellow volunteers and/or relevant stakeholders may be required.

Length of term: Minimum six (6) months, may be extended

Training: You will receive training from the NPA for the varying tasks of this position and receive introduction into the current fundraising initiatives and activities. Additionally, you will be introduced to the fundraising team and undergo shadowing to assist with the understanding of the position. Any questions you may have regarding the NPA will be answered as needed.
