2005-2006 Winners

Benjamin Gerrior

Program of Study: Engineering

What this award means to him: I have just entered the Engineering program at Memorial University. With my degree, I plan to work internationally, furthering the work of Engineers Without Borders. My scholarship gave me the opportunity to attend the university of my choice and focus on my studies.

Kyle Reese

Program of Study: B.A. (Philosophy major/ History minor)

What this award means to him: To me, my award meant the recognition and acknowledgement of my community involvements and academic achievements. Most importantly, it facilitated my desire to experience academic life at Memorial University. Awards such as the Millennium Excellence Award aid students with part of monumental student debt faced by those wishing to complete post secondary education. After I receive my Arts degree at memorial, I would like to study law, which I must do outside the province. This will require a large financial investment. It is comforting to know that the government of Canada is helping to ease this burden through such scholarship programs.

Sarah Small

Program of Study: B.Music

What this award means to her: I am currently a piano major at the School of Music with hopes of studying Medicine in the future. I was honored to receive one of the 2005-2006 Millennium Excellence Awards as this scholarship not only provides financial assistance, but also recognizes personal achievement.
