Program eligibility
- International graduate students enrolled in a research-based program at Memorial University. Please note that Postdoctoral Fellows are ineligible to apply.
- Applicants must bring a project that aligns with science and technology disciplines and has the potential for commercialization.
- Students must be able to complete the New Venture Creation graduate course offered on Fridays.
- Students must be able to dedicate at least 5 hours per week to other program activities in addition to the course requirements, including but not limited to workshops on translational R&D, IP management, professionalism, and entrepreneurial thinking and mindset.
The research mobilization fellowship program is designed to:
- Equip students with interdisciplinary skills in technology innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Foster an entrepreneurial mindset and essential professional competencies.
- Prepare participants for successful careers in academia, industry, government, or as scientist/engineer-entrepreneurs.
Participants will benefit from:
- Workshops on translational R&D using the “From Lab Bench to Store Shelves” model and methodology.
- A course in entrepreneurship, innovation and professional skills.
- One-on-one coaching with mentors from the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Real-world experience workshops to align research projects with market needs.
