Core Clinical Rotations
All undergraduate students gain exposure to emergency medicine through their 2-week core rotation. For the 2024-25 academic year, 83 students are scheduled for the emergency medicine rotation. The time is divided between our two adult emergency departments, the Health Sciences Center and St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. Learners complete 9 shifts across the two sites and gain experience with a wide variety of emergency department presentations from high-acuity to minor complaints, young adults to geriatrics.
In addition to emergency medicine exposure at the adult ED, learners also complete a pediatric emergency medicine experience as a component of their pediatrics rotation. Several of our Discipline of EM faculty also provide care in this setting.
