Colonial and Postcolonial
Colonial and Postcolonial Studies in the Department of English and Communication and Media Studies at Memorial engage a number of different trajectories related to British imperialism and its cultural and environmental aftereffects. Our faculty work on projects that investigate questions such as: What happens when cultures collide? What is a hybrid identity? What is the nature of colonial and postcolonial violence? How important is a sense of home? How do nations imagine themselves? In what ways do the consequences of imperialism linger across generations and in various environments and ecocultures?
