The Department of English invites applications for a Writer in Residence for Fall Semester 2016 or Winter Semester 2017, subject to the availability of matching funding from the Canada Council and Memorial University. The position is intended to honour new and established writers whose published work demonstrates a high level of literary achievement. In the course of the residency, the author will work on his or her writing projects while making time available to students and writers within the University and in the community at large. Authors wishing to be considered for the position are asked to provide a letter of application which describes the work to be undertaken during the residency, a curriculum vitae, a bibliography of published work, and a writing sample of current work of up to 20 pages no later than Tuesday, September 15, 2015. When an author has been selected, a joint application will be made to the Author Residency program of the Canada Council. Remuneration for the position, if funding is approved, will be approximately $20,000 (plus return air fare). Written or electronic applications should be addressed to:
