What We Heard and What We Learned Report Update

On February 14, a final version of Memorial University Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism (EDI-AR) Strategic Planning Report: What We Heard and What We Learned, a report on the findings of the Office of the Vice-Provost, EDI-AR's strategic planning consultations, was submitted to Dr. Jennifer Lokash, Provost and Vice-President (Academic), Memorial University. 

Response to the Report of the Employment Equity Act Review Task Force

Memorial University welcomes the recently released Report of the Employment Equity Act Review Task Force. The offices of the vice-provost, equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism and human resources will work together over the coming months to learn and understand proposed changes to the Employment Equity Act (EEA) and the Federal Contractors Program (FCP).

The Office of the Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDI-AR) invites Memorial's communities to join us in celebrating the opening of our new office and community space on the St. John's campus of Memorial University.

Strategic Planning Report Update

The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Strategic Planning Consultation concluded in June 2023; data analysis was conducted between September 15 and the What We Heard and What We Learned report was drafted by December 5.

EDI-AR Hybrid Dialogue Session for Racialized and International Students at MI/Memorial

The Office of the Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism invites racialized and international students at Marine Institute and all Memorial University campuses to participate in its upcoming hybrid dialogue session on November 22, 2023.

Human Rights Policy Update

A draft of a human rights policy for Memorial University has been completed.

DEAM Webinar: Creating Accessibility Confidence

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM). In recognition, the Department of Human Resources and the Office of the Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism are partnering with InclusionNL to offer a webinar, Creating Accessibility Confidence, on Monday, Oct. 30, from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Our customized Memorial University 2023 multicultural calendar is now available to view online or import into Outlook. This calendar includes days, weeks and months of note for different religious and cultural communities, nationalities and equity-seeking communities.

Consultation Update and Submission Options

We're nearing the end of the consultation period for the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Strategic Plan for Memorial University. Before we move to the next stage of the strategic planning process, we want to ensure everyone who wishes to contribute their observations, suggestions, and experiences has the opportunity to do so.

EDI-AR Consultations for Department/Unit Heads, Students, Senior Administrative Officers and all Memorial community members

The Office of Vice-Provost, EDI-AR invites students, Senior Administrative Officers (SAOs) and Department/Unit Heads to participate in upcoming hybrid consultation sessions from all campuses of Memorial on Tuesday, May 23. In addition, a fourth open session will be held on the same day for all members of the Memorial community who have missed previous consultation sessions.

EDI-AR Consultations for Executive Assistants, Directors and Executive Directors, Assistant and Associate Directors and Managers

The Office of Vice-Provost, EDI-AR invites Executive Assistants, Directors and Executive Directors, Assistant and Associate Directors and Managers from all Memorial campuses to participate in upcoming consultation sessions on Tuesday, May 16 at DH-2002 (formerly the Junior Common Room in R. Gushue Hall) as part of our ongoing strategic planning process.

Our student survey is your chance to tell Memorial University’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDI-AR) Strategic Planning Team what to include in its EDI-AR Strategic Plan. A solid understanding of the EDI-AR climate across all Memorial campuses is key to developing the EDI-AR Strategic Plan – and we need your help.
