Biochemistry turns 50!

Holy Krebs! The Memorial University Biochemistry Department will be 50 years’ old this year.

To mark the occasion, we are putting the call out to all graduates for an all years celebration weekend. Whether you graduated with a Biochemistry, Dietetics, Food Science or Nutrition undergraduate or graduate degree, save the dates Friday September 8 – Sunday September 10, 2017

We have an organizing committee of alumni and staff (even some faculty have been dragged out of their offices) putting together a weekend that will bring the memories flooding back. With in excess of 1000 graduates, they are generating more tables and figures than an average honours thesis.

Things will kick-off on the Friday night with a reunion mixer that will have fun and games for all tastes. And it wouldn’t be a Biochemistry mixer if there weren’t NABS and non-NABS available. Rumours abound there may even be a sweepstake to predict how many alumni NOT taught by Dr. Brosnan will be present. We are working on the rest of the schedule and hope to finalize it by end February.

Whether you were in Dr. Feltham’s first class, or Dr. Davis’ last class, spread the word, come on out and join the fun. Help make this a reunion for the ages. The dates coincide with MUNdays’ reunion weekend so this will be a great chance to reconnect with friends from other disciplines as well.

To express an interest in attending, and receive further updates about events, please visit http://www.mun.ca/mundays/events/reunion_biochemistry.php

Event details will also be posted on the Department’s web and Facebook pages. There may even be some of those photos you hoped no-one had kept.

Reunions fall in under MUNdays … a yearlong run of activities meant to invigorate, stimulate and inspire.
