PGY 1

In PGY1, the radiology trainee rotates through a variety of core clinical rotations as listed in the following table. At the end of these core rotations, there is an online end of rotation exam offered through the radiology department. This exam is strictly anatomy and image based for the trainee, to ensure they start their radiology PGY2 with a solid foundation in radiological anatomy.

There are two months of radiology during PGY1. These rotations allow the trainee early exposure to fluoroscopic, and film interpretation, as well as to the voice recognition system and PACS system. Both blocks can be completed with the GI/GU and plain film rotation objectives. Alternatively, if the PGY1 trainee wishes to do a specific rotation with a certain supervisor, this can be discussed with the Program Director.

PGY1 CLINICAL ROTATION OBJECTIVES
PGY1 GI/GU AND PLAIN FILM ROTATION OBJECTIVES Daily performance assessment cards are required to be submitted for this rotation.
PGY1 HOTSEAT ROTATION OBJECTIVES - Daily performance assessment cards are required to be submitted for this rotation.

Also, throughout the year, there is an Emergency Radiology distance education course. This allows preparation of the PGY1 for radiology on call with early exposure to a large variety of pathology. Please further discuss this with the program director.
