Welcome to the Discipline of Radiology

The Discipline of Radiology Residency Program offers a comprehensive education for our postgraduate learners, offering training on all modalities and all subspecialties of Medical Imaging. Our residency program is centered in St. John’s with training opportunities at the Health Sciences Center, St. Clare’s and Janeway hospitals. We also community-based rotations at various sites within and outside the province, including Corner Brook site, where residents rotate through the state of art Western Memorial Hospital, opened in 2024. We also offer extensive programming for our undergraduate learners through electives and research opportunities.

We have almost 60 full-time and part-time faculty across the province, as well as within the Atlantic Provinces. Our faculty are engaged and committed to providing a supportive and collegial learning environment. Faculty provide both formal teaching sessions, as well as daily “view box” teaching in a one on one atmosphere. With a very low ratio of learners to faculty, faculty are able to tailor their teaching to the level and needs of the learner. Our radiology curriculum ensures all areas of radiology are covered in both formal and informal training sessions.

Alongside their clinical duties, our faculty pursue a wide range of research, which has been recognized provincially, nationally, and internationally. This coincides with a robust research curriculum that involves residents and medical students.
